Traditional means of communication is key in achieving good governance.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Fola Adeyemi, stated this informed the state government’s decision to adopt the town hall meeting platform to give an account of governance to the state residents.
Adeyemi disclosed this while welcoming a delegation from the Department of Information under the Federal Capital Territory administration, Abuja, which was on a fact-finding mission to the ministry.
He said effective and efficient service delivery was the hallmark of the state information ministry, adding that it was the core communication channel by which the government disseminated information to Lagosians.
Adeyemi explained that the ministry had five departments with three core professional ones – Press and Public Relations, Information Production and Public Enlightenment.
He also said there were also agencies under the ministry – the Lagos State Printing Corporation, Lagos State Television, Radio Lagos, Eko FM and Traffic Radio – to make the ministry effective.
Responding on behalf of the delegation, Mrs. Stella Ojeme, said the team was interested in how the state disseminated information to over 21 million residents.
