Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri and Egypt’s Dina Meshref are the top seeds for the singles events at the 2018 ITTF African Championships.
In the absence of the defending champion, Egypt’s Omar Assar, Quadri was named the number one seed in the men’s singles. He will start his campaign from the round of 32 after getting a bye from the first round.
Also, as the second and third seeds, Egypt’s Ahmed Saleh and Mohamed El-Beiali also got a bye to the second round.
In the women’s singles, aside from Meshref, who got a bye to the second round. Nigeria’s Funke Oshonaike was seeded number two and also had a bye to the second round.
According to the ITTF website, the men and women’s doubles events precede the start of the singles events. The semi-finals of the mixed doubles hold as well on same day.
The players are aiming to share from the $25,000 prize money for the last four players in the remaining five events.
