Super Eagles’ technical adviser Gernot Rohr has insisted on making Arsenal star Alex Iwobi his first choice playmaker for the Eagles for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nigeria’s senior national male football team is preparing for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Egypt in June. But it seems the Eagles gaffer has already settled for Iwobi as his first choice playmaker in the team.
He however claimed that there are two or three other players that can also play the role but Iwobi has impressed him playing in that position for now.
“Alex (Iwobi) is playing better and better and his enthusiasm on the pitch is good for our team (Super Eagles).
“A natural evolution made him a ‘playmaker’. But he can also come from a wing and play with the others in his special style searching the one – two and quick short passes which can be decisive.
“We have other players who can also play that important role too”, Rohr revealed.
