The police in Taraba State on Wednesday paraded 49 suspected kidnappers in the state.
Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Alkasim Sanusi while parading the suspects before newsmen at the command headquarters in Jalingo said their arrest followed the launch of ‘Operation Forest Storm’ an initiative of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
Alkasim said nine out of the suspects were arrested on motorcycles with two AK47s, while two others were arrested while trying to collect N20 million ransom.
He also disclosed that some of the suspects were arrested at different locations in the state.
The Commissioner appealed to members of the public to provide the police with useful information about criminal elements in the state.
“I want to thank Taraba state government and other security agencies for supporting the police in its efforts to address cases of kidnapping in the state,” he said.
Our correspondent reports that cases of kidnapping have been on the rise in the state in recent times, with residents of the state especially, those Jalingo the state capital living in fear.
