The maiden Bolanle Ambode Women Championship has reach the business end as Jagumolu Queens Football Club and Young Talent 99 Football Academy battle for the title.
To berth a place in the final, Jagunmolu Queens defeated Phoenix Queens Football Club in the first semi-final while Young Talent 99 prevented an upset against high flying Ijamido Queens Football Club in the second semi-final.
The inaugural edition of the amateur female football tournament organised in honour of the wife of the Lagos state governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode was facilitated by the office of the special assistant to the governor on sports.
Adeyinka Adeboye, the senior special assistant on Sports stated that the competition which was created to enhance the standard of women football and showcase the best talents in amateur clubs in the state.
Adeboye revealed that the final billed for the Soccer Temple – Agege Stadium will hold on Sunday August 26 and the wife of governor, Mrs Ambode will lead other dignitaries to the grand finale which will start with the third place match between Ijamido Queens and Pheonix Queens.
16 amateur teams drawn from different part of Lagos started the preliminary round.
