Building Control Agency Upgrades Notices To Tackle Impostors

In furtherance of its commitment to better service delivery and also eliminate the activities of impostors in the built environment, the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has upgraded its various Notices usually served on properties.
The General Manager of the Agency, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, who disclosed this recently in Ikeja, stated that it is imperative to upgrade the Notices served by the Agency in order to improve its services while also checkmating the activities of some impostors in the built sector.
Speaking further, Oki listed the upgraded Notices to include Contravention Notices, Stop Work Orders, Quit Notices, Demolition Notices and Seal-Up Notices.
He added that another Notice, which is the ‘Contravention Notices for Distressed Structures’ has also been introduced specifically for distressed buildings in the State.
Oki explained that the upgraded Notices have been designed with some security features including a Barcode which when scanned would authenticate the served Notice and the District it emanated from.
He said, “The code on the Barcode is to ascertain that the Notice actually emanated from LASBCA. When scanned, it takes you to the LASBCA website and shows the District where the Notice emanated from”.
“With this move, we will able to control unauthorised usage of LASBCA Notices because we discovered that all manners of people use our Notices and it is unacceptable to us”, the General Manager stated.
Arc. Oki, therefore, pleaded with members of the public, especially professionals in the built sector, to cooperate with the agency in its efforts to bring sanity and maintain professionalism in the State.
