CONFEDERATION CUP: RIVERS UNITED TO KNOW OPPONENT ON FRIDAY

On Friday, Rivers United will learn who their group-stage opponents in the CAF Confederation Cup will be.

Following the conclusion of the qualifying rounds throughout the continent, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the date.

At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, Rivers United defeated Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso 2-0 in the second leg of the second preliminary round of the competition to advance to the group stages

The Young Africans of Tanzania eliminated the previous Nigeria Premier Football League winners from the CAF Confederation Cup as they advanced to the quarterfinals.

After Bendel Insurance was eliminated by RS Berkane of Morocco, the only Nigerian club to go to the group stage of the competition was The Pride of Rivers.

The competition has never been won by a Nigerian club before.
