COVID-19 ADVOCACY: TUTOR-GENERAL APPLAUDS VIDEO PRODUCTION BY STUDENT

The Tutor- General/Permanent Secretary, Education District 1, Barrister Margaret Titilayo Solarin has applauded a student of Vetland Senior Model College, Oko-Oba, Agege, Miss Boluwatife Thomas, for producing a video on tips for preventing the spread of COVID-19, through the application of basic respiratory etiquette.

She said the video, which has gone viral, corroborated the position of the State Government on the virus, as well as several other safety and precautionary measures already championed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

While calling on other students to be challenged by the involvement of Boluwatife in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, Solarin restated the need for all hands to be on deck to win the war against the deadly virus, stressing that the battle must not be left to government or corporate organizations alone.

In her words: “What Boluwatife did shows that everybody, regardless of who we are, could actually contribute our quota to the fight against this pandemic. While some donated their resources to the fight, others could also look inward and think of specific ways which they could use to support the fight”.

The TG/PS also seized the opportunity to appreciate all the Principals, Teachers and Volunteer Tutors who have been contributing tremendously to the radio, television and online tutorials since the closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

She, therefore, urged students to make the best use of the various online classes to achieve excellence in their examinations and also leverage on the holiday period to exhume their creative talent rather than engage in frivolities.

Barrister Solarin also appreciated the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, the Chairman of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, LASUBEB, Mr. Wahab Alawiye-King and other education stakeholders for their untiring commitment and efforts in getting the best out of students across the State despite the school closure.
