A workshop for Customary court judges in Lagos has begun with the charge for them to live up to their calling as change agents.
At the opening of the Retreat for Customary Court Judges, organised yearly by the Lagos State Judicial Service Commission, The chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Olufunmilayo Atilade enjoined them to display utmost fairness in the discharge of their duties.
Justice Atilade noted that the workshop with the theme “Attaining Excellence In The Dispensation of Justice” is meant to reposition, refocus and further strengthen the customary courts.
The secretary of the Commission, Mrs Ayodele Odugbesan explained that the annual retreat is organised because the Commission believes in training and retraining of judicial officers.
The training is also part of the Judicial service commission’s drive to reposition the sector.
