 FG Threatens Stakeholders Over Building Collapses

Federal-Government-of-NigeriaThe Federal Government has warned stakeholders in the building industry to ensure that no building collapses anywhere in the country henceforth, vowing to deal with culprits, if any building collapses in the country.
Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, who issued the warnin, weekend, attributed incidents of incessant building collapses in the country to greed, negligence and profiteering tendencies of one or all parties involved in the construction business.
Fashola, who made the remarks while speaking at the sixth Building and Construction Economic Roundtable, BCERT, in Abuja, said the current administration had zero tolerance for building collapse .
The 2016 BCERT was organised, weekend, by Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria, QSRBN, with the theme, “Professional Issues and Challenges in Building Collapse in Nigeria.”
Fashola was represented by the Director in charge of Building and Quantity Surveying Department in the ministry, Salma Yusuf Mohammed.
He ordered the agencies of government charged with enforcement of standards, professionalism, regulations and discipline in building sector to guard the sector jealously to avoid further incident of building collapses, which he regretted came with attendant huge financial losses.
