FIFA CANDIDATE STOPS OVER IN LAGOS

One of the candidates for next year’s FIFA presidential election, Prince Ali Ibn Hussein, on Thursday made a stop –over in Lagos to see the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Melvin Pinnick.
Both men spent some time together at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport before Prince Ali, a Jordanian and an influential figure in world football since challenging the now –suspended Sepp Blatter for the FIFA presidency in May this year, flew to Paris.
Ali’s whistle –stop campaign will take him to most of the 209 member associations of FIFA, before the presidential elections scheduled for February 26 in Zurich.
Ali polled more than 70 votes during the battle with Blatter at the FIFA Congress in May this year. South Africa’s Tokyo Sexwale and former FIFA deputy secretary-general JeromeChampagne are also in the race.
