At the Occasion, human trafficking in Nigeria was identified as a criminally driven market based on the principles of demand and supply affecting mostly women and children and everyone was urged to beak the circle of silence around exploration  by traffickers for perpetrators to be prosecuted.
Commentary
Reports say about 10,OOO trafficked persons have so far been rescued from Libya and other destinations back into the country through UN collabrations.
More worrisome is the fact that Nigeria has become a source, transit and destination for human trafficking and smuggling of migrants whose activities are perpetrated through lies, false promise of greater pasture in Europe.
This awareness campaign is one of the ways Lagos State government and other agencies intend to prevent trafficking in persons and sexual exploitation considered as second slavery

For Lagos State government, this advocacy is being combined with over N6.25B loans to small scale businesses to ALLEVIATE poverty which is one of the root causes of human trafficking

Meanwhile the state government has promise to extend this awareness campaign to the grassroots through the month of August.
