IGP Orders Re-Investigation, Arrest Of Killers Of The Igwes

Solomon Arase With President Buhari And The Acting Inspector General Of Police Ibrahim Idris
Police sources told Vanguard that the IGP is not satisfied that in spite of the progress made on the case by the investigators leading to the arrest of the suspected killer who later confessed to pulling the trigger, the case was muddled up and nobody was prosecuted. The source recalled that one Odogu Anam was arrested in Asaba in connection with the murder and after confession, and conclusion of investigation, the case file was handed over to the Anambra State DPP, Director for Public Prosecution but up till today, nothing was done and the suspects are allegedly walking the streets as free men. Pressure from political and traditional quarters was said to have been mounted on the police to release the suspect on bail after which he was subsequently released and he later escaped to Cameroon.
But the Police authorities feel the gruesome murder if not concluded and the culprits brought to book will continue to hang as one of the unresolved high profile murders hanging on the police force and giving it a bad name. Hence the Acting IGP have told the investigating team to go all out for the suspects and ensure the matter is resolved once and for all to ensure the suspects don’t go home smiling. The Acting IGP is said to have promised the team 100 per cent support and non-interference in the investigation.
