persons with disabilitiesPersons with Disabilities – The Independent National Electoral Commission has restated commitment to ensure an all inclusive Electoral process for all Nigerians ahead of the 2019 general elections.
This is as the commission today in Abuja presented the framework on Access and participation for people with disabilities in the Electoral process.
INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmud Yakubu who was represented by National commissioner, Dr Ademola  Ogunmola described the framework as apt especially as there are over 25 million persons with disabilities in Nigeria, a figure that can not be ignored in any nation’s Electoral process.
He however appealed to the political stakeholders to take advantage of the framework and give opportunities to people with disabilities to participate in next year’s general elections.
The representative of the Minister of women Affairs and other speakers commended INEC for already implementing the framework in the Osun governorship election saying it would help persons with disabilities contribute their quota to national growth and development.
Other key  components of the framework include putting in place friendly  polling units across the country for people with disabilities.
