The Independent Electoral Commission has extended the Permanent Voters Card collection deadline from Friday, 8th February to Monday, 11th February.
This was announced by the commission’s chairman Mahmood Yakubu during a meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioners at the commission’s headquarters, Abuja.
“In the last couple of days, we have been inundated by calls, from Nigerians to review the current process of collection of Permanent Voters Cards,” Mahmood said on Friday.
“In response, the Commission has taken the following decisions, NEC extends deadline for collection of PVCs from Friday 8th February to Monday 11th February 2019. This will include Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm,” he added.
This came exactly seven days to the Presidential election. Nigeria will be going to poll on Saturday, February 16 to vote in a new president.
71 candidates are bidding for the presidential seat include Nigeria’s incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.
