 INEC ON KOGI ELECTIONS

Ahead of Saturday November 21 Governorship election in Kogi state,the Independent National Electoral Commission has assured of its commitment to uphold the sanctity of the ballot.

Chairman of the commission, Prof Mahmud Yakubu gave the indication today at a meeting with the Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase and other top security chiefs in Abuja.

He said the commission will not relent in its effort to create an enabling environment that will guarantee the election is free,fair and credible.

Prof Yakubu further noted that the rationale for the meeting was to work out modalities that will enable the people of the state vote freely for candidates of their choice.
Earlier,the Inspector General of Police,Solomon Arase said the security agencies will collaborate with INEC to conduct a credible poll that will reflect the wishes of the kogi people.
INEC on tuesday November 17 is to hold an open forum for interaction with representatives of political parties, traditional rulers and other political stakeholders in the north central state.
