 Lagos Committed To Vibrant ICT

Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are vital in reshaping many aspects of the world’s economies, Governments, and societies, as technological progress is a driving force behind economic growth and citizen engagement.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Balogun disclosed this at a meeting with Information Communication Technology (ICT) Officers in different Ministries, Departments and Agencies, while reiterating the commitment of the State Government to a vibrant ICT.

Balogun noted that ICT has an important role to play, adding that Public officials, businesses, and citizens can harness the transformative power of ICTs to provide more efficient services, catalyze economic growth, and strengthen social communication.

She said that the business of the present administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is to have an inclusive Government, thus informing the people of Lagos on Government intended programmes/policies through the state’s websites and other social media of the State Government.

The Permanent Secretary charging the ICT staffs in different MDAs to asserts themselves, stressed that, they are the eye of the Government as their duties entail sharing information of the State Government through displaying of government’s activities on the websites and ensuring at all time that their Ministry’s website are functional and updated to sensitizing the public on ongoing Government activities.

According to her, “ICT is very important in our daily lives so also as in our work because it connect us with the outside world thus showcasing the programmes and projects of the State Government to the global world”.

She added that the State ICT brings a lot of advantage for economic development enabling millions of transactions to happen in an easy and fast way, since the State Government has moved towards e-business so as to reduce the stress the public go through in paying some levies in the State.

Balogun, therefore advised ICT staffs to add value to the State Civil Service no matter the challenges being faced while also ensuring that the State attain its mega city status in the global world.

In her word, “we must have passion for our job, work hard and cooperate with the present administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in moving Lagos to a greater height”.

She however solicited for the support and cooperation of all to collectively add value to the System.
