LAGOS DEPUTY WELCOMES TEACHERS, STUDENTS BACK TO SCHOOLS

Urges administrators to prioritize hard work, moral values in schools

As public schools in Lagos State resume for the second term of the 2015/2016 academic session today January 11, 2016, the State deputy governor, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule ‎has commended principals, teachers and schools administrators for helping government to implement policies that are bringing positive changes in public schools.

In a statement issued from her Office today, the Deputy Governor urged them to redouble their efforts in the New Year and ensure that there is an improvement in students’ performance in all examinations so that government huge investment in education can be justifies.

The deputy governor noted that this objective is achievable when teachers and school administrators rededicate themselves to the ethics of the teaching profession; make education interesting and inspiring to their students; inculcate good orientation, ethical and moral values; and encourage them to be hardworking and be self-disciplined.

In her words, ‘’ we have the unique responsibility to be the prime change agents our dear state needs to become a better place to live and work. All what we need is to rededicate ourselves to the ethics of the profession and make education interesting and inspiring again while I urge you to encourage hard work , ethical conduct and moral values where ever you are and whenever it is required’’‎

Adebule while reminding them of the important position of the state in the country called on all stakeholders in the education sector to join hands with the present administration as it strives on a daily basis to implement relevant educational policies geared towards making education in the state not only a role model for the country but the whole of Africa..

“As I welcome you back to school, we need to walk together to our destination , which is to be an excellent model for education in Nigeria and the whole of Africa. This can only be achieved when all stakeholders rededicate themselves and take ownership of government vision in the overall interest of the students.” she said.

While wishing principals, teachers, students and all stakeholders in the education sector a prosperous new year, Adebule reaffirmed government commitment to quality education through the implementation of sustainable programmes, promising that government will continue to prioritize teachers welfare so as to encourage them to give their best in the overall interest of the students.
