As part of efforts to further strengthening its operation towards combating crime,
particularly at the grassroots level, Lagos VGN has concluded all the necessary plans to commence marine waterways surveillance in Ikorodu, Epe and Badagry axis.
The Lagos commander VGN,Otuba James Udoma gave the hints at a media chats in Lagos.
Udoma, a graduate of criminology and a fellow of institute of security, Nigeria, (Unilag) emphasized activities of kidnapping, militancy, bunkering and killings would be reduced to a barest minimum when VGN operatives swoop into action especially in the areas of marine surveillance management.
While assuring residents in Lagos, particularly those residing within the areas of waterways to always watch out for suspected flying boats plying along their routes, he also told them to be vigilant in their day to day activities since all hands are now on deck to checkmate activities of armed robbery attacks in different parts of the country.
The security boss also noted that the activities of kidnapping and pipeline venders are usually carried out from the Benin Republic towards Lagos axis which also linked to the Niger Delta.
Otuba Udoma therefore advised authorities of the Lagos state government to always provide maximum cooperation and adequate support in the areas of logistics and manpower to the men of vigilante to enable them carry out their statutory functions in those areas.
