The Lagos State Government today kicks off the induction of one hundred and six newly employed staff of the Primary Health Care Board to introduce the new staff to the ethics, ethos, norms and values of the State Public Service.
The Induction course, a flagship programme of PSSDC is primarily designed to re-orientate new entrants in the State Public Service about laid down work procedure to familiarize them with work environment. This consists of orientation, socialization and acquisition of core skills relevant to the Public Service.
In his speech, the Director-General, PSSDC, Dr. Senukon Ajose-Harrison affirmed that the Public Service like other organisations across the globe has her way of inducing new employees so that they can settle down and excel in the workplace. ‘The course was primarily designed to introduce you to the basics of the Public Service Procedure and become integrated in the Lagos State team that is assisting the delivery of Government’s desire to make Lagos a resilient and smart city with infrastructure that works for all.’ Ajose-Harrison said.
In her remark, the Director, Administration and Human Resource, Primary Health Care Board, Mrs. Ololade Aina reiterated that the Induction becomes necessary to introduce them to the fundamental norms and rules of service, as it would be difficult for them after going through induction to claim ignorance of the ethics and ethos. She further said that the Primary Health Care Board made the induction compulsory before the new staff are posted to different places of work for easy integration and quality service delivery.
The Programme which has participants drawn from health and allied sectors will be in three phases of two days each with participants learning about ‘Actualising the Lagos Vision: Growth Mindset; Overview of Lagos State Public Service Rules 2015; Managing Primary Health Care Finance and Accounts Through Financial Regulations; Work Ethics and Core Values for Effective Public Service Delivery, and Experience Sharing of Primary Health Care Management System.’
