MINISTER ADVOCATES FOR COMMUNITY POLICING

As part of effort to address the rising cases of conflicts in the country, the Minister of Interior General Abdulrahman Dambazau has advocated for community policing.
The Minister made the call today during a familiarization tour to the force headquarters in Abuja.
He said the measure will infuse efficiency and professionalism and also help to change the negative perception about the Nigerian Police to ensure it meet its mandate of providing public safety and security.
General Dambazau added that it will also ensure a conducive environment that will attract foreign and local investment as well as add value to the Nation’s economy.
Earlier, the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, said for the Nation to attain the police of its dream there is a need to review the funding mechanism.
The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Chairman of Police Service Commission and top Police officers.
