 N100BN DEBT: Reps Accuse FG Of Flouting Compensation Law

The House of Representatives has accused the Federal Government of owing over N100bn covering employees’ compensation and insurance remittances.

Ad hoc committee Chairman headed by the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Mr. Chukwuka Onyema, investigating the non-remittance of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund contributions by the federal, state and local governments, described the development as a breach of the Employee Compensation Act.

The committee also stated that some Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government are yet to register with the National Social Insurance Trust Fund,NSITF.

The committee then directed the Managing Director of the NSITF, Mr. Adebayo Somefun to furnish it with a comprehensive report on remittances within 24 hours.
