Ndidi returns to training ahead City clash

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is back in training at the club’s Seagrave training ground ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash against champions Manchester City.

The 25-year-old has missed Leicester’s last four Premier League matches after being substituted at half-time against Nottingham Forest at the start of this month.

It’s a hamstring issue that has sidelined Ndidi for the majority of October, with manager Brendan Rodgers admitting after last weekend’s win against Wolverhampton Wanderers that they “didn’t want to take the risk” of involving the returning midfielder at Molineux.

Photos showing the player in action at Seagrave were posted across the club’s official social media accounts on Wednesday morning.

With the Instagram post accompanied by a caption, “Wilf’s (Wilfred) back on the training pitches as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.”

One image notably shows Ndidi in contact and trying to win possession back of first-team physiotherapist Gary Silk, who is shielding a football from the midfielder. The others show the player working at drills with and without the ball, on his own, with no teammates featured in the photos suggesting that team training was not yet on the agenda.

This comes as a timely boost for the Eagles, who will face Costa Rica and Portugal in friendlies next month.

The three-time African champions will face the Los Ticos in a send fourth game in San Jose on November 10 in San Jose before taking on Portugal in Lisbon a week later.
