Nigeria must be strong to face Ghana, Cameroon

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has charged his colleagues to shrug off their disappointing 2-0 loss to Madagascar in their last 2019 Africa Cup of Nations group game and focus on the round of 16.
He said the challenges before them were huge and it would be unnecessary to dwell on the past which may affect the way they approach their next games.
The Villarreal of Spain forward noted that he and his colleagues face a big challenge of confronting big sides like Ghana or Cameroon in the round of 16.
“This is football, the loss is a wake-up call for us that we have to be ready for the round of 16, we just have to be ready to face any team we meet, we have to be confident,” he said.
He said he was shocked by the way the Malagasies played, adding that the embarrassing defeat showed that African football is tough and there are no big or small teams on the continent anymore.
“Indeed I was very surprised with the way they played against us; we didn’t expect this but this is football, anything can happen,” he added.
