 Nigeria Records 593 new COVID-19 cases, Toll now 50,488

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has confirmed 593 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of infections to 50,488.

The agency disclosed this on its verified Twitter handle @NCDCgov on Wednesday.

According to the agency, 186 new cases of the virus were reported in Plateau state, followed by Lagos State with 172 new cases, 62 in the FCT, 27 in Oyo State, 25 in Delta State, 20 in Rivers State, 19 in Ondo State, 18 in Edo State.

Others are: 17 in Kaduna State, 12 in Enugu State, 10 in Akwa-Ibom State, seven in Ogun State, six in Abia State, six in Gombe State, three in Kaduna State, three in Kano State and three in Osun State.

The 593 new cases brought the nation’s confirmed COVID-19 infection cases to 50,488.

So far, as of 19th August, there were 50, 488 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria; 37,304 discharged, with 985 deaths.
