Despite having more than 11 years old law against the practice of Female Genital Mutilation- FGM, Osun state thrives as the state with the highest prevalence of this harmful practice.
The young advocate, Ayo Bello is a fellow of the Barack Obama leadership training YALI cohort 5 and studied Sociology and Anthropology.
She expresses her passion against FGM through her initiative called Ladies Circle International- LCI. This initiative has helped impact thousands of women and girls in Ile- Ife through their community sensitization projects, annual End FGM debate, quiz and spelling bee competition for school girls, conferences and media interviews since its existence of more than 3 years.
FGM is known as a harmful traditional practice that is why Ayo Bello sought for the support of the number 1 traditional ruler and royal father Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II and He has promised to grant all the necessary support to reach the goal of ending Female genital Mutilation- FGM in one generation.
Ayo Bello looks forward to partnering with the NGO of His royal majesty Oduduwa Foundation as he has approved.
