The Super Falcons striker, Oparanozie Desire, has said that the female players’ efforts were frustrated after losing to France 0-1 on Monday.
She also described the decision of the Video Assistant Referee as “unfair”.
The EAG Féminine France player described fans reactions to their defeat as “emotional”.
France defeated Super Falcons on Monday through a penalty that was retaken after the VAR reversed the initial one parried by the Nigeria’s goalkeeper.
“I’m so emotional reading all messages and comments. I’m glad the world saw how they frustrated our efforts. Thanks to everyone who spoke up,” she said.
Apart from Desire, other Falcons, who reacted to the defeat, commended their performance and thanked fans.
Falcons’ midfielder, Ngozi Okobi, added, “Thanks ladies. I am super proud of us.”
“Proud of this team and thanks to the fans in the stands and those watching at home,” Ordega Francisca, Falcons forward, said.
