Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of director general’s Department of state security services (DSS) Mr Lawal Musa Daura. This was revealed by his Senior special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande.
This is following the lockdown of National Assembly this morning by DSS Operatives.
Lawmakers, Staff of the National Assembly and journalists covering the National Assembly had a hard time gaining access to the premises , as they were barred proceeding beyond the Second gate of the complex.
All the major gates leading to the national assembly complex were cordoned off for the early part of the day by the security men.
Although no reason has been given for the security lockdown, the sight of several Senators seated at the lobby just by the entrance of the Senate chamber raised suspicion as to what could be the state of emerging events as the day progressed
As at the time of filing this report, the lawmakers from both chambers were allowed in after undergoing screening and physical checks by security men.
There have been speculations in the media of alleged plans by some Senators to forcibly reconvene plenary to ouster Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
