President Muhammadu Buhari, in a congratulatory message to the new Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, asked the monarch to lead his people fairly.
The president’s message was delivered by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
The message stated, “While you bask in the glory of the moment, I want you to be the leader to all and treat all your people fairly in the performance of your duties.
“This is a challenging moment and therefore, I want you to use this opportunity to unite all members of the ruling houses for the interest of your people.”
The president cited the history made by Bamalli on being the “first emir from the Mallawa ruling house in 100 years.”
The former emir of the emirate, Ahmed Shehu, ruled for 45 years, until his death on September 20, 2020.
Prior to his ascending the throne, his grandfather, Dan Sidi – who passed on in 1920 – was the emir.
Bamalli has had prominent positions at various organisations including serving as a permanent Commissioner of the Independent Electoral Commissioner in Kaduna State.
He also was an Executive Director at the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Corporation, later serving as the corporation’s Managing Director.
