Representing the president, his vice,Professor Yemi Osinbajo was optimistic that the port will be one of the largest deep seaport in West Africa.
As Nigeria has become one of the largest economies in Africa,it deserves a modern new seaport that will connect it to the world trade,hence the establishment of the Lekki Deep Seaport in Lagos.
At the ground breaking ceremony Professor Yemi Osinbajo while explaining the benefits of the seaport said the construction of the port will not only enhance the economic Recovery and Growth Plan of the country but will also provide 170,000 direct and the indirect jobs.
He commended the Lagos state government towards the drive of the project and assured that the Federal and state government will provide necessary support to ensure the quick completion of the project.
Representing the host Governor Akinwunmi Ambode,his deputy,Dr Idiat Adebule said the seaport was a golden egg waiting to impact positively impact on the economy.
He called for more private investment to compliment the provision of infrastructure as the government cannot bear the cost alone.
The Lekki Deep Seaport when completed will service heavier vessels, ease the congestion at the Apapa port and also compliment the port.
The Lekki Deep seaport which is in the heart of the Lagos Free Trade Zone when completed will be one of the most modern ports in West Africa ,offering enormous support to the blooming commercial operations across Nigeria.
With the strategic location and pro developmental policies as contributing factors, the Lekki Deep Seaport will be a thriving ecosystem of maritime and port services, to drive trade and businesses in Nigeria
