A fire incident has occurred in a three storey building in Obanikoro area of Lagos around 1:19pm but no live was lost although properties worth millions of naira were destroyed by the inferno.
Acting director of the state fire service , Rasaki Musibau who confirmed the incident said lack of emergency exit into the building posed a great challenge to Fire fighters from Lagos fire service, Federal fire service and Emergency responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency who had to break into part of the building while curtailing the fire.
The three storey building is on No 227 Obanikoro road, in between town planing and Obanikoro bus stop.
Eye witnesses say the fire started at about 1:19pm from the store on the ground floor where computer accessories and other combustibles were kept was detected by one of the staff who tried to get a fire extinguisher but it got out of control before he came back .
A distress call was made through the emergency 112 and 767 to command and control centre for help by 2:19pm brought all emergency responders within few seconds.
Nobody has so far been trapped in the inferno and no casualties , but gaining access to the source of the inferno was not ease as the fire acting director advises building owners and developers.
This latest fire incident brings to 300 calls for help on fire incident from March till date and the need for caution all all times. Meanwhile all the emergency bodies promised to conduct investigation into the cause of the inferno whose financial burden on the property owner is yet to be determined.
Officials of Nigeria Police, Rapid Response Corps, Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps, the state Ambulance service, LASPARK, also at the disaster scene to support the operations.
