 Rangers Drop Leon Balogun From Europa League Squad

The absence of Leon Balogun, a defender for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, was the biggest surprise of the list.

The international player from Nigeria was one of nine new hires this summer at Ibrox as Michael Beale led a rebuild of the team in the wake of many first-team departures.

Balogun was released because Rangers lacked the necessary number of homegrown players to name a full 25-man team.

Rangers don’t have enough homegrown players in their squad to name a full 25-man roster, eight of whom must have either received club training or national training, according to the club.
