REPS DIRECTS MINISTRIES AND AGENCIES TO ACCEPT CORPS MEMBERS

The House of Representatives has directed government Ministries, Departments and Agencies to accept Corp Members posted for primary assignments.

Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas disclosed this on Friday in Abuja at the weekly briefing of the activities of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

Namdas said it is unacceptable for Corp members to be rejected considering the aims and objectives of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, stressing that rejections in the past led to death of some Corp members in search of place of primary assignments.

The House Spokesman also revealed that the House while expressing reservations on the rampant publication on change of names by newspapers, resolved to investigate the trend particularly with the recent introduction of the Bank Verification Number policy.

He hinted on investigations so far carried out by some Committees of the House. Among these investigations were the alleged N2.7billion severance package the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission reserved to pay its commissioners.
