 REPS TASK NCS ON EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY

Nigerian Customs Service must engage in continuous training and development programmes for its officers for optimal performance.
The House of Representatives has therefore urged the Controller – General to deploy more personnel to the borders to curtail the activities of smugglers.
This resolution by the House is sequel to a motion titled “low service delivery and exploitation of the masses by Nigeria customs service” sponsored by Hon. Olatoye Sugar(Oyo State, APC) during Wednesday’s plenary session.
The lawmaker while noting that the Nigerian Customs Service if effectively managed could be the highest revenue generating agency of the country said that the potentials of the service is being hindered by negligence of duties and corrupt practises amongst it’s personnel.
The House called on the Federal Government to invest more in Information and communication technology (ICT) for the advancement of Customs operations to improve operational efficiency.

The motion was however put to a voice vote by the Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Dogara and the House adopted it.
