 SANWO-OLU’s Aide Charges Parastatals, Agencies To Synergise For Effective Service Delivery

The Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Parastatals Monitoring Office, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo has charged Heads of Parastatals, Agencies and other organs of government to combine efforts in the delivery of good governance to Lagosians.

Ayantayo gave the charge during a virtual meeting held with recently, noting that parastatals and agencies are prominent organs in the implementation of government policies and projects, therefore, it is expected that they complement each other’s efforts in the delivery of quality services to the people.

According to him, the role of agencies and parastatals towards the overall achievements of the State government in the past one year is commendable, adding that such collaborations are vital to greater achievements in the future.

He stated that the gathering was the first in the series of meetings that will be periodically held, as regular interactions with parastatals and agencies of the government are very essential.

The Special Adviser disclosed further that a detailed report on the activities of the Office, as well as that of other parastatals and agencies that were visited towards the end of last year, had been submitted to Mr. Governor before the outbreak of the pandemic, saying that approval has been granted for the proposals put before him by the PMO.  

While stressing that the Governor has approved the training of members at local and international levels, he said the office was already planning a foreign workshop for the Executives before the pandemic struck, temporarily putting plans to a halt.

Confirming that proposed initiatives include the publication of a quarterly magazine detailing activities and achievements of parastatals and agencies, Ayantayo informed that a directory containing yearly updates on agencies and parastatals will also be published.

“Part of our mandate also includes organising quarterly meetings between parastatals. Mr. Governor has directed that the event should be biannual. Though the outbreak has denied us the possibility of hosting one, however, we look forward to having one with him in the nearest future”, he said

Speaking further, the Special Adviser asserted that the COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a heavy blow on the global economy, urging members to develop ingenious ways of coping through this period successfully.

The online meeting was also attended by the Permanent Secretary, Parastatals Monitoring Office, Mrs. Kafayat Adetokunbo Ajenifuja; Managing Directors, General Managers and other top-ranking members of the State’s Agencies and Parastatals.
