Semi Ajayi Claims Man Of The Match Award.

Rotherham United of England defender, Semi Ajayi has been recognized for making history with the club last weekend, as he hit home a brace of goals and ultimately went home with best player of the match award.
However, footballlive.ng can report that match officials were surprised to see Ajayi win the prize, as he has been known to play in central defensive, only to be moved up-field by his coach in recent matches.
The Millers’ coach, John Warne has opted to employ Ajayi as a defensive midfielder, following the return of fellow-Nigerian defender, Michael Ihiekwe from his loan spell at Accrington Stanley.
Ajayi made the best use of his new role on Saturday, to romp home two goals with headers and gives his a 3-2 win against Blackburn Rovers, much to the amazement of technical assessors of the game.
Such was noted in their post-match report, as the assessors noted that the towering Super Eagles’ rookie scored an ‘unlikely brace’ in the tie.
However, Rotherham’s boss beat his chest in celebration, knowing that his tactical acumen has paid off for the player, who he says has learnt the hard way, by taking in strict instructions by the stick.
Apart from his brace, which were Rotherham’s first and third of the day, Ajayi, who has now scored four goals this season, with three in his last two games, added two tackles, five headed duels and one interception.
Those figures, though, appeared to have been missed by the match assessors, who only hinted in their citation for Ajayi that they were shocked to see him score twice on the evening.
The citation read: “The Sponsors’ Man of the Match is announced as Ajayi, whose mammoth performance has yielded an unlikely brace!”
