Sports As A Tool For Bringing Up Responsible Youths

Sports has been described as a tool for social engagement which can be use to cater for the needs of teeming youth, build an healthy nation and develop the economy. In Alimosho, aspiring athletes and upcoming football players are encouraged to attain greatness in sports through a community social responsibility initiative designed to transform and impact of lives using sports tool.

There is no denying the role of sports in Nigeria, especially football which is internationally acclaimed as the king of sports. In this times of massive unemployment and youth unrest, sports, especially, the beautiful game of soccer continues to harness the talents of youths as it generates tremendous gains across the value chain.

Motivating aspiring athletes to do great exploit in their sports careers, the sports evangelism department of the Redeem Christian Church, Dominion Cathedral visited various playgrounds in Abesan area in Alimosho and provided material and spiritual help for the youth.

The Sports for Christ Sake initiative in conjunction with Corever Coaching clinic has trained young coaches in the area. It was high time the athletes benefited from the community social responsibility of the church.

Coordinator of the program, Oluseyi Oyebode said unprecedented move of a church was necessitated by the state of the nation and through the project, the society will be impacted for the best. He urged well meaning individuals and private organisations to support the initiative.

The reach out program is a prelude to the forthcoming Jersey Sunday scheduled to hold on July 15.
