TEACHING EQUIPMENT IN UNIVERSITIES MUST BE PROCURED BY DUE PROCESS – BPP
The Bureau of Public Procurement has threatened to sanction any Nigerian university that procures teaching and research equipment without due process.
BPP Director General,Engr Emeka Ezeh issued the warning today in Abuja at a 2-day seminar on Science and Engineering Equipment Functionality Procurement processes in Nigerian Universities.
Represented by Anyanwu Okechukwu,Mr Ezeh said the bureau at present operates a training centre where it undertakes training programme on procurement processes.
The BPP boss further assured that the Bureau will continue to support government institutions compliance to due process as outlined in the public procurement act.
In his welcome remarks,the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission,Prof Julius Okojie said the workshop was put together to stimulate maintenance culture in the universities community.
He said available statistical data indicates that poor attitude to maintenance was still lingering in the University system.
Participants from over 70 private and public universities are attending the workshop.
