 Trade Fair: Opportunity To Showcase Lagos To The World – Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has described the just concluded Lagos International Trade Fair as an opportunity to showcase Lagos to the world.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this at the celebration of the Lagos State Day and Closing Ceremony of the 2022 Lagos International Trade Fair held at the Tafawa Balewa Square recently.

Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folashade Jaji, revealed that the International Trade Fair provides another opportunity to showcase investment opportunities and the modest strides his administration has achieved in its quest to improve the States status as the most preferred destination for investment in Nigeria and Africa. He also commended the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) for the privilege and opportunity of showcasing Lagos to the world.

His words: “So far, our administration has done a lot to better the business environment through implementing business-friendly policies, ease of doing business, incentives and our unrelenting commitment to infrastructural development and renewal. As I speak, construction works are ongoing in all parts of the State to create a conducive environment for living, leisure and business.”

Sanwo-Olu further said that benchmarking the State against global best practices, making it a model for others to follow, and growing it to become a befitting Smart City that is comparable to any, in the world.

“The realities of the time have placed on us the responsibility of creating and harnessing opportunities through improved private sector participation to accelerate economic growth, create more jobs for our teeming youths and enhance our revenue-generating capacity”, he said.

Speaking further, Governor Sanwo-Olu encouraged business owners and investors to take due notice of the essence of the theme of the Fair: Connecting Businesses, Creating Value”, which he described as a wake-up call for every entrepreneur because it is a potent strategy to grow businesses and overcome the challenges prevailing in every business environment globally.

The State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Dr. (Mrs.) Lola Akande affirmed that the Sanwo-Olu administration has a dogged public service that is working to facilitate an enabling business environment for all.

The President, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Asiwaju (Dr.) Michael Olawale Cole expressed immense gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commendable partnership and inclusive governance.

“I hereby express my deep appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for issuing a Letter of Commitment for the release to LCCI, a parcel of land to build its own Convention and Exhibition Centre. With Lagos State Government and LCCI, a lot is bound to happen. This can only happen in Lagos”, he said.
