TRAFFIC LAWS: LAGOS IMPOUNDS 73 OKADA, 11 VEHICLES

In an effort to promote safer Lagos by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode led administration, the Joint Task Force of Lagos State, comprising of Rapid Response Squad and Lagos State Force today impounded 73 motor bikes and 11 vehicles, for operating outside their designated route and for plying one way.

The team, which was led by RRS Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Mr. Olatunji Disu and Task Force Chairman, Superintendent of Police, Mr Bukola Abe, operated along Oshodi – Apapa Expressway up to Mile 2, Oshodi and Ikeja. Amongst the vehicles impounded were two commercial buses, two pick up vans and seven private vehicles.

The RRS Commander, ACP, Mr. Olatunji Disu, noted that the exercise was a joint routine operation of the Rapid Response Squad and Special Taskforce, adding that Government would not tolerate recklessness and flouting of road laws.

The Commander maintained that laws are made to check people’s excesses and promote orderliness in the society, adding that, Lagos must be made free from grid – locks.

He advised motorists to obey traffic laws and be considerate to other roads users at all times, urging them to make patience their watch word.

He said that the owners of the vehicles would be made to face the law.
