A Barcelona statement read: “FC Barcelona and Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Nélson Semedo. The English team will pay FC Barcelona 30 million euros plus 10 in variables.
“FC Barcelona publicly expresses its gratitude to Semedo for his commitment and dedication and wishes him good luck and success in the future.”
Right-back Semedo signed for Barca in 2017 from Benfica and made 124 appearances for the Spanish club, winning two LaLiga titles and the Copa Del Rey.
A Portugal international, the 26-year-old has been fortunate enough to play alongside both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Coming up against those two in training should therefore mean he will be more than prepared for the Premier League’s finest attackers.
New Barca boss Ronaldo Koeman decided to let Semedo leave in order to raise transfer funds to land his targets.
It has been a busy window for Wolves with a couple of big name players heading for the exit but with some exciting arrivals.
Doherty left earlier in the summer for Spurs with Diogo Jota joining Liverpool last Saturday in a £45million deal.
Ki-Jana Hoever headed in the opposite direction to join Nuno’s side with teenage striker Fabio Silva also joining for a club record fee of £36million.
